Biography

Slåttebrekk was born in Stavanger in 1968. He has studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Einar Steen-Nøkleberg and with Jerome Lowenthal and Lazar Berman at the Juilliard School of Music. In 1997, Simax released his Ravel recital, featuring works by Ravel such as "Gaspard de la nuit". The album was described as 'an extraordinary disc' (Schwann Opus) and 'among the great interpretations' (American Record Guide). It won the coveted Spellemannpris (the Norwegian equivalent of a Grammy).
