Biography

Edgard Varèse (1883–1965) was a French composer born in Paris. Born on 22nd December 1883, he moved to the United States in 1915, and took U.S. citizenship in 1926. Varèse's music features an emphasis on timbre and "organised sound". His use of new instruments and electronic resources led to his being known as the "Father of Electronic Music". Varèse's music emphasizes timbre and rhythm and he coined the term "organized sound" in reference to his own musical aesthetic.
