Biography
Gabriel Édouard Xavier Dupont (March 1, 1878 - August 1, 1914) was a French composer, known for his operas and chamber music. Dupont was born in Caen. Following after his father who was teacher at the Malherbe secondary school and the organist at the Church Saint-Étienne in his home town, at the age of 15, Dupont began his studies at the conservatory of music and declamation. There, he studied harmony with Antoine Taudou, descant with André Gedalge and composition with Jules Massenet.
