Biography
Herrek is a Dutch band, founded in 2008 by Rotterdam-based musician Gerrit van der Scheer. Van der Veer used to be the guitarist in Adept (and continues to be the frontman of Bonne Aparte) but opts for a more personal approach with Herrek. Van der Scheer, who grew up in Papua, Indonesia, named the band after the way the Papuans pronounced his first name, Gerrit. Lyrically, Herrek's début album, Waktu Dulu, zooms in on Van der Scheer's years in Indonesia.
