June & Jean Millington started their first all-girl band in the '60's and by the end of the decade had a record deal with their band Fanny. They toured the U.S. and Europe, recorded at Apple Studios and were on every big television show of the era, sharing the stage with Sly and the Family Stone, Chicago, Chuck Berry, Dr. John, The Staples Singers and many others. David Bowie said of the group in Rolling Stone magazine, “ They were one of the finest fucking rock bands of their time.
