"Folk music is never safe. There is always a threat hanging over it. It is in constant danger of turning into a museum. Luckily, every generation so far has had its fair share of young whippersnappers and weisenheimers that rudely rip folk music out of the clammy hands of the preceding generation and mangle it into a shape conducive to telling their own stories."
