Les Menestriers France

Biography

Les Menestriers was founded by Yves Audard, Jean-Pierre Batt, Daniel Dossmann, Bernard Pierrot and Julien Skowron in 1970 in order to address the increased relevance of medieval music in the contemporary music scene. They deliberately adopted the "minstrel" designation, and presented the repertory as a living art in contact with the Earth. The group's membership later changed dramatically, with lutenist Bernard Pierrot as the remaining figure. The group was apparently disbanded by 1980.
