Biography

Mentor Ralph Williams (born circa 1946 - November 16, 2016) was an American singer-songwriter and musician, best known for composing Dobie Gray's 1973 hit "Drift Away", which has since been covered by scores of artists including Ringo Starr, Steppenwolf, and Uncle Kracker, the latter of whom achieved a #1 Billboard hit with his version. Furthermore, Williams has an extensive track record of session work for other artists, as well as a solo career. Mentor is also the brother of fellow songwriter Paul Williams.
