Michel Houellebecq (real name Michel Thomas), born 26 February 1958, on the island of Réunion, France is a controversial, award-winning French novelist, filmmaker and poet. He left France and lived in Ireland for some years. He currently lives in Spain but has said that he does not intend to stay there indefinitely.
